What is a Mystery shopper?

Mystery shoppers pose as a normal customer to evaluate their products and services and report the findings through our online survey.  When you register, make sure you answer the questions about your work experience and background. This is how we match you for specialized assignments.  For example, is you have Loss Prevention experience, you will have first choice on these types of audit assignments. Individuals with Bar management experience, will get first priority for assignments that involve evaluating a bar.  You manage your assignments in an online folder, which includes assignments, training materials, and payment status.

RETAIL SHOPS
We have a variety of shops available each month in various regions across the USA and Canada at popular retail establishiments. Grocery, Sporting Goods, Clothing, Shoes, Auto Care, Handbags, Jewelry and Pharmacy are some of the key clients with which we provide Mystery Shopping services. See our current project board to see if we have open shops near you. (New Shops are posted daily)

AUDITING & LOSS PREVENTION
We conduct thousands of in-depth auditing assignments across the USA and Canada. If you have a background in Loss Prevention, Operations, or Risk Assessment, register with us, and then send your detailed resume to kparker@customrisksolutions.com. Due to the confidential nature of most of these types of audits, you will not see these posted on our open project board by location. Project managers contact qualified registered auditors directly when needed. All sub-contracted auditors are subject to criminal background screening

INVENTORY ASSIGNMENTS
In addition, we offer Inventory Support to many of our retail clients by providing additional counting resources. Sub-contracted Counters are paid $20 per hour in most cases and work 6 to 8 hr shifts. Persons having experience with scanners and inventory projects are given first preference. See our current project board for open inventory assignments.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sign up as a Mystery Shopper or Auditor?

Our Mystery Shoppers and Auditors are considered Independent contractors. As a sub contractor, most of our shoppers work for many other companies, not just one. They work on their own terms, accept only the assignments that they would like to take on, and only on the days and hours that do not conflict with their full time jobs or family obligations.

As an independent sub-contractor, Mystery Shoppers are not entitled to any company benefits, vacation pay, workers compensation, health insurance, or unemployment benefits. Upon registering as a CRS Shopper, this is outlined in our contract of terms.

To register with us, simply click here to start the registration process. FYI, all registered auditors or shoppers must have their tax ID information on file with us to receive assignments and compensation. If you do not wish to use your SSN number, you can apply for a tax ID number on the IRS.gov website. Our site registration uses the same SSL encryption security used by banks to protect your information.Yes, you are free to use our themes on as many websites as you like. We do not place any restrictions on how many times you can download or use a theme, nor do we limit the number of domains that you can install our themes to.

Does it cost money to register as a shopper?

NO, its absolutely free to register. In addition, we caution individuals that legitimate mystery shopping companies and scheduling companies, do not charge individuals to join. We are proud long term members of the MSPA organization, known worldwide and dedicated to the professional Mystery Shopping and Investigations industries.

How do I get paid or inquire about pending payment?

Upon registration, each sub-contractor profile allows you to agree to Paypal quick payments, which are processed approximately once a month around the 10th to 15th for the previous month’s shops or audit assignments. With the exception of assignments that have $25 or more in expenses, those are paid faster, within 7 to 10 business days.

If you do not use PayPal, or elect not to use PayPal, this requires you to submit an invoice to us just like any other vendor or sub-contractor that the company pays. The invoice must have a remit to address, name, and tax ID information. In addition, it must list the assignment ID and amount due. Those invoices should be sent tokparker@customrisksolutions.com for manual processing. NOTE cutting checks take much longer to process, up to 45 days. We encourage all sub-contractors to use PayPal for expediting the payment process.

In addition, NO PAYMENTS will be processed for US shoppers without tax ID information on file with us.

Where do you conduct Mystery Shops?

Our projects consist of both regular monthly types of projects and annual projects across the US and Canada. Once you register with us, you will provide us with geographical areas that you are willing to conduct shops or audits. When we need a sub-contractor in those areas you will receive email notifications or phone calls to see if you are interested in the assignments. Or, after registration, you may check out project posting board at anytime that lists all open assignments by area.

Our projects are conducted for clients in the industries of retail, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, automotive, food and grocery.

How do I contact my scheduler?

We work on hundreds of projects at a time, which are all handled by various schedulers and project managers. In most cases, a project will have 3 main points of contact, a scheduler, a project manager, and a quality control manager.

You can find this information normally in your guidelines that are posted in your assignment log, right next to that specific assignment. The guidelines will provide you exact names and emails addresses or phone numbers for the people managing your project assignment. Or you can click on ‘Help’ next to the specific assignment in your log.

The scheduler typically handles questions about the date, time or need to cancel or change the date or time of an assignment.

How do I get more assignments?
DEPENDABILITY, QUALITY and ACCURACY. We utilize a rating scale and a citation history module on our system that allows us to keep very specific ratings and notes about each assignment you complete for us. Your account will show our schedulers and project managers an average rating on the following:

– Did the assignment on date and time requested
– Did the assignment exactly per the guidelines
– Did the assignment report professionally with DETAILED quality information.
– Complete your extended profile page that allows you to list special experience (Loss Prevention, Retail, etc)
– Use the Aps and Downloads page so that you have fast access to assignment postings

We have some very particular clients in which we are contractually obligated to provide certain pieces of information in certain format. Shoppers or Auditors that read all instructions, and reply quickly to us when we request additional information are given much higher ratings. We take extreme pride in our reporting to our clients, and look for individuals that share that same sense of pride about their work.

How do I get MSPA Certified?

There are official certification courses offered to individuals that want to earn a silver or gold badge certified badge through the MSPA organization. Once earned, these certification badges are attached to every profile of every MS company that you complete assignments for. This badge represents that you take the Mystery Shopping and Investigations industry work seriously and have taken steps to educate yourself further on how to complete the assignments per industry standards. To learn more about certification programs, visit the MSPA.ORG contractor page. This is also a great place for you to register with other MSPA member shop companies.

How do I avoid scams and join other MS Companies?

We post scam alerts as we read about them directly on our website. Some common scam or red flags to look for are:

  • A company sending you cashier’s checks ahead of time to complete an assignment….legitimate companies do not do that.
  • A company requesting your information on a site that is not secure.
  • A company that charges you a fee, with a promise to give you so many assignments a month or year.

To learn more about registering with legitimate Mystery Shop or Investigative companies, visit the MSPA.ORG contractor page. This is also a great place for you to learn about certification programs.
